ALFRED, NY – The Bryant & Stratton College Rochester Bobcats (0-5) closed out their final game of the Alfred Tipoff Classic with a 69-53 loss to the Alfred State Pioneers (2-2).
Rochester came out strong to start the game, building a 7 point lead in the first 10 minutes. The team slowed the pace and kept the ball moving, resulting in 8 team assists and 6 threes.
The Pioneers were able to claw their way back though and it looked like they would head into the locker room with a 4 point lead. However, a put-back buzzer beater by Rochester would make it a one possession game and the Bobcats went into the half trailing 32-30.
The back and forth action continued in the second with both teams trading buckets. There were 5 lead changes in the game and the score was also tied 5 times. Alfred State was able to take advantage of 19 turnovers by Rochester and also ended up with 18 points off of fast break opportunities. A 14 point scoring run would give the Pioneers an 18 point lead that they would hold on to.
Up next: The Bobcats will have to put the search for their first win on hold for a bit as the team heads into a break in the schedule. Their next game will be December 2nd when they host Bryant & Stratton of Buffalo at James Monroe High School. It will be the first of 6 times this season where Rochester will play a sister BSC campus.
