Bobcats fall short to #1 Villa Maria
ROCHESTER, NY – The Bryant & Stratton Rochester Bobcats were defeated by the Villa Maria College Vikings by a score of 88-69. The Bobcats continue their search for the program's first win while the Vikings collect their 10th victory on the year. Villa also came into the game ranked number one in the Division II USCAA poll.
The Bobcats came out firing with an alley-oop dunk on the first play of the game. The teams would trade buckets back and forth for the first five minutes. Rochester would take a three-point lead thanks to good ball movement and good shooting with ten minutes left in the half. The lead would be short-lived and their last of the game. Villa's run would end with an offensive rebound and buzzer-beating layup to take a 47-31 point lead into the locker room.
Rochester would begin the second half with some spirited possessions, hitting their first 4 shots coming out of the break but Villa was able to maintain their lead and hold off Rochester to seal the victory. Rochester is now 0-7 on the year while Villa Maria moves to 10-1.
Up next: The Bobcats will hit the road for the first time since mid-November as they take on the Finger Lakes Community College Lakers. It will be the first of two games the teams will meet this year, both of which will be played at FLCC. The Lakers are off to a 7-5 start this season after splitting their games this past weekend.
