Bobcats Edged by Fisher in First Game in Program History

A pair of second half runs spoiled the debut of Bryant & Stratton College’s Rochester women’s basketball program as the Bobcats fell to Fisher college 59-41 in their home opener.

Despite the outcome, it was a strong effort for the Bobcats. An impressive first quarter saw Bryant & Stratton leading 13-12 in the first regular season game in program history. But a cold streak in the second quarter allowed Fisher to grab the lead. The Falcons went on a 14-4 run in the quarter, holding the Bobcats off the board until the final 1:15 of the half.

Bryant & Stratton battled back from their halftime deficit, closing the margin to just one at 31-30 midway through the third quarter. But Fisher closed the third quarter on an 8-1 run, and would hold the lead for the rest of the contest.

Pushing to close the gap once again, the Bobcats struggled to hit their shots, giving Fisher more chances to widen their lead and ultimately making the deficit too great to overcome.

A number of Bobcats had impressive showings in the loss. Dorian Sharp was excellent, leading the team with 20 points and 20 rebounds, establishing herself as a threat at both ends of the court. Shanell Glover added 12 points of her own while Kadijah Jones and Chevy Millingont each grabbed 10 boards.

“I feel we showed resilience and great composure,” said head coach Sean Knorr. “I am proud of the fight we showed.”

The Bobcats will have a little over a week to prepare for the program’s first roadtrip, a journey to Corning Community College on November 13. The time off will offer valuable practice time as the team prepares to notch the first victory in program history.

“We have a good mix of young and veteran talent,” Knorr said. “We will get it together. Just wait and see what we have to offer.”
