Bio

Ryan is in his third year on staff with the Bryant & Stratton Women’s Basketball team, and took over as the interim head coach in early 2021. The Warsaw, NY native graduated from SUNY Cortland with a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education. He then went onto SUNY Brockport where he earned a Master’s degree in Health Education. He has been a Physical Education and Health teacher with the Rochester City School District (RCSD) since 2001. He has taught the last ten years at the School of the Arts (SOTA); during his first nine years, he taught at several elementary schools within the RCSD.

Ryan has coached four different sports (Baseball, Basketball, Golf and Soccer) at SOTA. He started coaching JV Baseball at SOTA from 2006 to 2014. Then he coached the Girls’ Varsity Soccer team from 2006 to 2011. Ryan coached the Girls’ Modified Basketball team from 2006 to 2008. For the 2008 - 2009 season, he was promoted to the Associate Head Coach for the Girls’ Varsity Basketball team. Then starting in the 2009 - 2010 season Ryan was named the Head Coach for the Girls’ Varsity team. He coached the team for seven years as he stepped down after the 2015 - 2016 season. Then in 2016, he was named the Head Coach for the Golf team at SOTA. Ryan has been the League chair for the Rochester City Athletic Conference (RCAC) Girls’ Basketball league since 2013. He has also been an assistant coach with the Basketball Coaches Association of New York (BCANY) starting in 2013. Ryan was also an Assistant Soccer coach for the Boys’ Varsity Soccer team at Greece Olympia from 2012 to 2018.

Ryan lives in Hilton, NY with his wife Cathy and their two sons, Nicholas and Jack.
