SYRACUSE, NY - Bryant & Stratton Rochester mounted a late rally but ultimately came up short in a 2–1 loss to Bryant & Stratton Syracuse on Friday afternoon at the CNY Sports Centre.
After falling behind 2–0, Rochester clawed back into the match in the 83rd minute when Toby Hewett buried an unassisted goal—his third of the season—to give the Bobcats life. Rochester continued to press in the closing minutes, generating all eight of their shots in the second half, but couldn't find the equalizer before the final whistle.
Rochester keeper Vincent Mueller turned away four of six shots on goal to keep his side in the game. Jonathan Chezes led the team with two shots on goal, while James Mather and Michael Ingallinera each added one. Despite their improved second-half performance, the Bobcats were unable to overcome first-half goals from Syracuse's Tyriq Armstrong (40') and Alvaro Carrera-Aguirre (63').
It was a physical match, with Rochester shown five yellow cards. The Bobcats held a 5–3 edge in corner kicks in the second half and showed resilience down the stretch, but the early deficit proved too much to overcome.
The loss drops Rochester in a tight late-season race, but the second-half fight offers positives to build on heading into their next matchup.
